Do you think some people are answering to gain points,or just exhibiting their sense of humor?

As ever with life (which makes it so interesting) there is a mixture of all of the above.

Yes there are many who answer simply to win points, there are some who just come on here for a laugh, and others try very hard to give informative serious answers. I say all are welcome. Sometimes the question is so poor that it is tough to know whether it is serious or not.

What I can't tolerate are some of the inflammatory and just plain rude questions and answers that get on here. These people are just showing their immaturity and deserve to be kicked out.

Making a serious issue funny.....requires a touch of wisdom and creativity of its own......So when you ask a serious question, there will be many types of answer. Take the ones sensible to your cause into consideration...laugh at the ones that are funny...and ignore the ones that are obnoxious.....Gain all...It is like a dog...You won't love a dog until you don't mind all the hard works put into raising one. So until the time when you can appreciate all aspects of a particular.....thing......It will always be just a thing to you

I think a serious question deserves one but 90% of the questions are not serious. Stupid questions like "What colour should i dye my hair" should just be deleted. To speak for myself i usually answer questions half-assed just to get points unless i see one that is really serious that i can answer.

It's their choice too, so we have to respect.

I strongly believe that "a serious question deserve a serious answer"

"an honest questions deserve an honest answer"

I think they are doing both. I also think that some people like to air their knowledge. I'm always tempted to correct spelling and grammar (does rather than dose), so I guess that falls into the airing of knowledge category.

Is that a serious question? Is this a serious answer? I want to know.

Sometimes the most enlighting answer to a serious question is a light hearted one.

(Note I said light hearted, not smart-assed.)

Encourage her to tell her mom the truth, it's the best course of action. Beyond that, there's very little to be done unless she feels like making the 6 hour trip to your house.
