There are two things I (and most of humanity) find it extremely difficult to imagine.

One of these is infinity and the other is absolute nothingness.

As such, we find it difficult to understand what could have been before the creation of the universe (when there was nothing), what the universe is expanding into (which could be infinity) and what is passed the edge of the universe (which could again be nothing).

These things stretch beyond religion, through physics and into philosophy.

Can I answer with a poem. Of course I can:

Its Nothing

I’ve got nothing on my mind
She’s sometimes cruel and sometimes kind
There’s someone on the phone
But I really feel alone

She told me its nothing, and nothing really matters
I’m mad as a hatter, and nothing really matters
She told me I’m nothing...
...and nothing hurts

you whispered me sweet nothing
and nothing is forever
I thought I could hold it
I thought I could own it
all this nothing that I have

I could learn from my mistakes
my sore head and my heartaches
all this nothing misery
but how wrong do I have to be?

That which doesn’t kill me...
is really all it could be
that Nietchze he’s peachy
but how strong do I have to be?

this is a true story- i've actually experienced nothingness! to me atleast thats how I interpreted it! I wasjust laying down not sleeping or anything, just being really happy and carefree. then it was like I slipped into some warp or someething and i was feeling absolutly nothing for like 3-5 minutes so it seemed it was so weird. the only thing present was one still moment like jusst one long pause in time with no senses, vision, sound, anything. just one still moment. I couldnt even interpret time it was just weird. haha has it happened to anyone else?!

In all seriousness, nothing is like complete total silence. Like the silence in outer space.

Yes I have. People often ask "Why something.. instead of nothing?" And we just don't have an answer.

As for what nothing is like, hard to wrap your brain around that.

I tried to think about such things, but it seems to me too difficult... maybe I'll return to my thoughts when I will retire :D

Yes, and it scares me that there may be nothing, not color or love, or taste. or anything.
