yes you can, but you must get a registered gas fitter or plumber to do the job and to certify his work or you are breaking the law. gas pipes are usually buried in the ground if they are outside ( yellow pvc pipe)
don't take any chances, get a professional

Depends on code, then only in black iron pipe, I believe. Copper must be buried or protected, I believe. I wouldn't want it vulnerable to damage or vandals.

you can you can use ridge black pipe or the orange gas pipe but I would bury it at least 18''
black pipe you must use pipe dope to seal each joint
you can use copper as well still needs to be 18'' min depth
