My pickup seems to lose power when it is hot out and i run the ac. Is there anything that i could do to stop this. I have custom dual exhaust, tuner, kn intake kit. Wondering if its the heat being sucked up by intake or if the tranny is getting too hot.

I dont have this problem when the ac is off. So i know the ac is causing something any ideas.

i understand the ac requires power from engine. MY wifes explore runs just fine with or without ac running. It seems like it dont care. Horsepower is always there when you step on it

It feels like something other than just the powerrobbing of the ac clutch

Depending on what year it is there should be a solenoid switch near the carburetor that should kick on and move the throttle up a small distance to compensate for the extra load when you turn on the A C.

The IAC motor could be bad. They are notorious to go bad on Ford truck. IAC stand for Idle Air Control. And when they heat up they make you lose power. It looks like a 3 or 4 inch bullet sitting on your intake manifold. It's a silver color and has a black cap on the end of it. And a plug on the other end.
But when you have the AC on it will lose power anyway. There is a little sensor that ups the idle when you turn the ac on too. I can't remember what it's called but it pushes on the throttle linkage when the ac is turned on. If it's working you should turn on the AC and hear the engine RPM go down and then go back up to normal.
The year and engine size would be nice too.
is it a 4.9 -6 cylinder? A 5.0 -8 cylinder? Or larger engine?

As a mechanic for some years i'd ought to ask some questions from you. First, once you're saying it wont start up. Does it attempt to tutor over? If not it truly is a commencing solenoid.it truly is a defective twine. you will ought to have a volt meter and a few elementary wisdom of elementary electric equipment. First have somebody turn the biggest to the commencing up place, whilst they are doing that, you should examine the starter solenoid twine to verify if there is ability. If no ability then i'd verify some fusible hyperlinks. If there is ability, then you certainly ought to do away with the starter and have it checked. it truly is all in accordance with me not understanding what you advise via "wont start up". stable success. electric issues must be the toughest to choose

The air conditioning compressor saps power directly from the engine belts. It will cause an immediate reduction in available power at the wheels.

There is absolutely nothing you can do about this. AC requires energy to run, and this energy is not free. It comes from the engine.
