I thought we went into Iraq to find WMD's that never existed... Why are we still there?

Iraq is like the 'Tar Baby'.....we're stuck because we got suckered into a war that has no natural stopping place. Most likely all of the 'intel' that this war is based on came from agents from Iran...what better way to get rid of a rival than to have the US do their dirty work. I don't don't doubt for a minute that the Bush Junta knew that the intel was doctored, and who knows....after the next election should the democrats get into the executive branch and retain the congress all of this will come out. If the Republicans win, all of this will be buried along with the Constitution and another 10,000 American soldiers.

Waiting for the Iraqi Parliament to ratify the Iraq Oil Law so the US oil companies can exercise long-term (30+ year) contracts, taking 50% control of Iraq's oil reserves, siphoning off the profits and leaving the everyday Iraqi people in as bad, if not worse, shape than before we arrived. They of course will love us even more for that and the permanent military bases we'll be building to ensure the safety of the oil companies. Terrorism, which never has it's roots in futility and oppression, will of course just go away. Yeah, right!

To kill people that hate Americans and everything that our country is about... To make the middle east a safer place... To prevent Iraq from being taken over by terrorists and other hostiles that would love nothing better than to harm America and Israel... To oust a brutal and vicious dictator who slaughters his own people without batting an eye and who has even contracted an assassination attempt on a US President... I could go on... The troops are complaining, why are you?

Any con here have an issue with that? Seem like Big Oil and Halliburton got a lot of money in their bank accounts, while the rest of us bury the dead.
