I have a question for the men. Why do it? Why?

EXAMPLE: You hear about a bad business decision that if gone wrong, you would loose everything you own, and have to pay a business partner an outrageous settlement for the rest of their life even if that partner causes the business to fail.

Would you invest in it? Probably not.

Yet and still there are plenty of men putting their financial livelyhood in jepardy. Marriage today has nothing to do about love, it's about money. In any other situation you would be labled a fool and an idiot if you squandered your life away like that.

But when it's love and marriage Women, religion, and society expects you to put yourself in peril in the name of love and children. And If you don't, you're labled as immature. With all the guys getting screwed in court looosing their kids etc, why do it?

Until they make the laws more equal, men should refuse to marry. If you have assets you shouldn't

EXACTLY...cause were stupid in love when whe sign our lives away.

Somebody should pull aside every dude that wants to get married and smack him hard on his face to wake him up from making the biggest BIGGEST mistake of his life.

I hear ya. I'm 25. never been married. no kids. so many guys I work with think my life must be the best thing ever. My dad was the #1 person who counseled me to never ever ever ever get married. Especially to a woman who already has children. He has been married 3 times.
The last girl I dated, I would have married if she wanted me. She dumped me. First time I had ever been dumped. It was very harsh. And I would still do anything for her. I mean, love is definitely worth more than money right? What heartless bastard wouldn't choose a long lasting true taste of love over a pile of money with a nice retirement? I guess I would. Good point. Did you even have a question? They should open up a Yahoo! Statements.

Who have you been talking to? I know several women who have lost custody to the child's father, so the law is much more concerned about the child than just giving children to their mother.
And what kind of women have you been dating? Many women are financially independant. There are such things as pre-nups to take care of any financial dealings. Not all women are greedy gold-diggers. When I left a marriage of 15 years, I gave him the car, money to live on for awhile, and all the household belongings. I was just delighted to get out, the things we acquired together meant nothing.
And by the way, you SHOULD be willing to put your life in peril for your wife and children. I wouldn't want a man who wouldn't give his life for me or the kids.

Thats why im getting a pre-nup. If something does happen and we wind up divorced, why should she be entitled to my hard-earned money and possessions?

Even if shes a doctor or something, just because shes the woman she'll still get half my stuff. Its ridiculous.

Im not a complete asshole. I dont want the courts telling me to give her stuff. But if she was genuinely not going to be well off, of course id help her financially, but of my own free will, not being forced to.

Truly, you would think that we would learn after a while. It seems that we have rose colored glasses on when it comes to love and marriage. It took me three lost marriages to learn that marriage is a great way to end a perfectly good loving relationship.

For the same reasons women marry a dick head and then complain about it later.

Life is nothing if you don't take risks...

And another thing... marriage is about LOVE... I guess the women you've just been around have been gold diggers...

Have fun in your marriage-less, paranoid life of yours.
