Nazareth did some awesome covers of ballads like Love Hurts and This Flight Tonight. Judas Priest did likewise with Joan Baez's Diamond and Rust.

More recent great covers, Marilyn Manson version of Sweet Dreams, Get Your Rocks Off and Personal Jesus. Kovenant redid Babylon Zoo's Spaceman. Disturbed also covered Tears for Fears 's Shout.

All great songs originally and the covers did them justice. But check out albums like Garage Days Inc by Metallica, Spaghetti Incident by GnR and Heavy Metal Jukebow by Helloween which features all covers done brilliantly by the respective bands.
