I was in a store the other day, and I saw a girl I knew from my first year in college, and I saw her belly and went over to her and said when are you due? And she looked at me like I was crazy, but she did just have a baby a month prior to that..so I was kind of off the hook.

Yes and it was the most embarrassing but looking back the funniest thing ever.
I was to meet a group of my wifes friends and was very nervous. By the time I got to the bar I was quite tipsy after a few glasses of wine. She started introducing me to her mates, one stood up and by this time I was quite relaxed. I asked her when was the baby due. I felt a kick on my ankle (from my wife). "I'm not pregnant" came the answer to my utter dismay.
You'd think this was bad enough but my wife then introduced me to the pregnant woman and said through gritted teeth "I'd like you to meet ANDREW!" I felt like running from the bar and dying.
We look back and laugh now and Andrew turned out to be a great lad who I sometimes have a drink with on occasion.

I worked with a girl years ago. I suspected she was but didn't want to come out and ask. I told her she looked 'different' but wasn't sure whether it was her hair or what...then she smiled and said "I'm pregnant!". I said "Congrats! That must be what caused a different 'air' about you".
She liked that reply as it wasn't intrusive or offensive.
But I did work with a guy a few years later who told me he once worked in a deli while in school and he asked one of his customers if she had any names picked out. She was confused, so he asked "you are pregnant, aren't you?" Embarrassed, she let out a loud noise and ran out the door. Knowing this guy, it was surely an honest mistake. He still regretted it years later.

No, I think its rude to assume someone is pregnant. But it is always asked of me. I am so tired of hearing"you pregnant again" like its a crime. then comes the next comment of "three is enough". My responses of "no I am not,I am on meds" is annoying to my own self. I just give them a blank stare.
Just last week i was asked or told that i was so skinny and i gained so much weight. She then went on to say am you having another little one. My response"Yeah for your husband". She walked away real fast. Then my mom called me out 2 days later saying the woman approached her and told her what i said.My Moms response"you need to be worrying about your husband and not my daughter" LOL

Yeah! It happened to me! I asked a newlywed lady when she was due. She gave me the nastiest attitude and walked away. She still doesn't talk to me. And that was 3 years ago! Golden rule: Until you actually see a baby come out or get a baby shower invitation in the mail, don't ask.

Yeah, well I don't know if I have mistaken someone to be pregnant because I never did ask that person if they were pregnant.
I can say though that pregnant women look beautiful.
IDK why but they just do.

That is by far the most embarassing thing. I happened on a lady and said, you look so adorable when are you due. She says, I'm not pregnant, we don't have children.

No, but my friend has. I had a science teacher last year who is a bit round around the belly. My friend (who didn't have my teacher) told me that she thought the teacher was pregnant.
