Evolution and Creation have been debated on for as long as I can remember. I know where I stand but I try my hardest to understand where others do.

So if you could tell me your view and your reasons I would really like to read them. Maybe make sense of were the others fall on the whole situation.

The fact that people debate about evolution and creation does not mean that there are valid points on either side. There is no debate, there are only two incompatible answers to the same question, given by people coming from entirely different places.

Evolution is a scientific fact. There is no legitimate debate within the scientific community about the general theory, only specifics. Science actually knows more about evolution than virtually any other theory, it beats even the big bang theory in probability of being correct in its current form.

Reasonable people hold a very secure (though not infallible) belief in evolution, as it is reasonable to hold a belief in accordance with the evidence for a proposition. Evolution is one of the strongest of scientific theories, and it is reasonable to believe in it, based on the best current evidence.

There is not one single shred of evidence in favor of any of the religious creation stories, including the Christism I assume you are referring to. It is a matter of faith to accept the story of creation as your belief, and completely unreasonable.

It is impossible to hold a meaningful debate if the same "value" is not upheld by both sides. Since those who believe in creation have no evidence, and are faith-based , while those who believe in evolution are willing to discuss things reasonably; there can be no meaningful conversation between the two upon the topic of the origins of species.

Well, creationism isn't an actual theory, it's just a story. Even if the story was true, it's still tremendously vague. But considering it a story doesn't mean that there is not God or there was no creation. -Remember that people tended to miss interpret most every prophesy of the old testament, it wouldn't be a shocker if we miss interpreted the creation story as well.

This however doesn't mean that evolution is right. I like the theory of evolution, but I seriously doubt that it is even remotely correct. Maybe the general ideas are, but the closer you look at the finer details, the crazier and less conclusive the evidence is. -I expect that my grand children will be taught an entirely different explanation of evolution that what we were taught... and it might still be equally wrong.

I've always believed in the theory of evolution. There is no empirical evidence that any deities exist, and even if they (or He) did, who is to say that we would be able to comprehend or understand these gods or this God?

The theory Creationism (intelligent design) is a creation itself, made by religious thinkers. Unlike evolution, which is backed up by decades of nearly universally accepted evidence and is backed up by most of the scientific community, the idea of Creationism is simply illogical, and utterly lacking scientific proof.

Belief in God and acceptance in evolution can co-exist. Nearly all rationally-thinking people, after studying the aspects of evolution, will agree that it is scientific fact - regardless of their personal religious faith.

Most scientists agree that evolution is fact, including those who believe in God. Some believe in God, but see the Bible and the story of Creationism simply as moral lessons or fables. Some believe in God, and maintain that Creationism must be fact, despite overwhelming evidence that supports the contrary. I believe that the former is the logical way to think.

Because though God cannot be proven, evolution can. And even though God cannot be proven, who is to say that you cannot have faith in what you want? Faith is something that stretches beyond logic and rational, and yet cannot be called ludicrous or wrong. If you believe in God, then that is your personal belief, no one can ever take it away from you.

Acceptance of evolution, however, is something that is dangerous to be ignorant to.

Therefore, I believe in evolution because it is scientific fact - while I do not question the possibility of the existence of God.

As I was reading the answers that have already been submitted I was saddened. Some of you used scientific data to say you belived in evolution and some of you just thought it was absurd. I have a question.
What do you mean? Do you mean,
-Cosmic evolution: the origin of time space and matter(big bang)
-Chemical evolution: the origin of higher elments from hydrogen
- Stellar and planetary evolution: Origin of stars and planets
-Organic evolution: origin of life
-Macro-evolution: changing from one kind to another
Or - Micro-evolution: variations within kinds.
Those are the 6 definitions of the word evolution folks. Yet only one can be scientifically proven, can you guess which one? The last one, Micro-evolution. None of the others are possible. Most evolutionists believe in Macro-evolution, I have a Question for you, If that is possible, why isn't it still happening? I want to see it.
Variations do accure but only within the same kind. Have you ever seen a dog evolve into a non-dog?
Evolution can not be proven scientifically at all.I'm sure you've heard enough from me for right now but don't worry , I'll be back. try this site below.

That's such a hard question. =(

I don't know how to put this, but I debate the two options all the time and I feel horrible about it. I'm a Christian, so according to my religion classes, God created the universe and everything in it because He is all-powerful and all-knowing. But whenever I try to question this, my religion teacher smiles at me and says, "It's too hard for man's mind to understand. God is just all-powerful." I believe this. I really do. But I want answers.

So the theory of evolution always made sense in a way. But if, in fact, we evolved from monkey-like animals, why are we here with monkeys? Wouldn't all of the monkeys be humans? I really don't get the theory when it comes to that point. And I don't understand where the FIRST living thing came from if evolution is the true theory.

So I stand in the middle of two really debatable options. =)

And, by the way, have a star. =)

The evidence for evolution is and has been interpreted from a Philosophical and ideological Bias, The answers given by adherents to Evolution here in R&S is proof of the bias and agenda, Atheism has to have an alternate explanation—other than a Creator—for how the universe and life came into existence.
Darwin once identified himself as a Christian but as a result of some tragedies that took place in his life, he later renounced the Christian faith and the existence of God. Evolution was invented by an atheist.
What is sad is that Christians are falling into this Trap and trying to fit evolution into the Bible (Theistic Evolution) thinking they can make it fit.
Lee Stroble in his video listed below “ The Case for the Creator” stated (5 min. 28 sec into the video) The Case for a Creator
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ajqH4y8G0MI

That “There is no way you can Harmonize Neo Darwinism with Christianity, I could never understand Christians who would say “ Well I believe in God yet I believe in Evolution as well” You see Darwin’s idea about the development of life led to his theory that modern science now generally defines as an undirected process completely devoid of any purpose or plan,”. Now how could God direct an undirected process? How could God have purpose in a plan behind a system that has no plan and no purpose? It just does not make sense.
It didn’t make sense to me in 1966 and it doesn’t make sense to me now.
The Apostle Paul wrote to His Son Timothy stating that “ in 2 Timothy 4:3-4 “For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, [because] they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn [their] ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables.”

Those Christians who believe in evolution have no idea how that effects their theology.

Without labeling it Evolution or Creation, can we agree that we are here and somehow we got here or perhaps we've always been here. Whatever happened exactly, is unknown to anyone. The words Evolution and Creation are theories conceived and sometimes believed by people to represent how they think we got here.
My belief is both are valid, reasonable, incorrect and incomplete. Neither are factual and neither has indisputable proof. Best of all, I don't care what anybody else believes.

I believe both are theories that can't be proved.
I believe that people believe what makes them most comfortable.
I believe that I can live without knowing everything.
