increase screen resolution?

i just reinstalled windows and my resolution is to low and on display propertys it doesnt give any other options beside 640/480

Sounds like you didn't install your video card drivers yet.
Do that, and your multiple resolution choices should show up again.

You need to install the video drivers.

You should be able to get them from your computer manufacturer's web site.

Or, if you added a video card, from the video card manufacturer's web site.


If you are missing these, then you are probably missing a whole load of other drivers too. I would pull everything for your computer of the manufacturer's web site and make sure all your drivers are at the latest level.

you need to go to start,right click my computer,then click manage,then when the screen pops up,click on DEVICE MANAGER,then find DISPLAY ADAPTERS,click on the + sign and write down the name of the adapter you may need it later if this doesn't work,Once you hit the + sign right click your adapter and hit update and follow the instructions,and see if it will update your DISPLAY adapter,if not,if you know the name and model number of your motherboard,go to their website and follow the instructions to locate the driver and install it,it may be a updated driver that Microsoft cannot download.if you need help finding the driver,email me with the name and model number of your board.If you do not know the name of your motherboard go to the link below and download it,download the top one that's a EXE file.that program will tell you all of what you need to know about your computer.later if you do not want the program just go to add and remove and uninstall it.hope this helps
