Nope, but they will thrash their tail around to slap you with a bunch of quills. ;)

They can't shoot their spines. However, the spines detach with minimal effort, so if they whack you with their tail, you're gonna have a lot of spines stuck into your flesh. Meanwhile, the porcupine can make its getaway.

No, that is a myth. They loose their quills when an animal rubs against them and receives their prickly barbed quills!

This only happens when they feel threatened and roll into a ball.
