Well, it could be one of two things really.
1. She thinks you are pretty amd that she really likes you and kinda wishes you were her mom.
OR
2. She thinks that she is ugly or in a gentler term unpretty. I would tell her that she is beautiful just the way she is, and that you like her the way she looks.
You could make lite of it, or it might be a deep problem for her, I would personally find out first. Does she just say this to be nice, think your pretty, or is it somthing troubling her about herself, where she thinks she needs to look more like you to be pretty.

well I guess the 9 year old knows genetics and knows you get the features of your parents so she's actually giving you a really big compliment because she's saying you're prettier than her mom which in your case is a very good thing since you're dating her dad

Don't stress. I think she's just in the stage where she's starting to really like and accept you, so she's being extra-flattering. Remember, she's only 9, so I don't think it means she actually "dislikes her mom" or "wishes you were her mom".

O.K. I'm going to go a little deeper and say that yes she thinks you're pretty, but because her mom isn't here and you are , jealousy may be a factor. I would not agree with her but rather let her know how pretty and special she is by having the mother she had.

A) She thinks that you are pretty
B) She has a low self image/ self esteem.
Give her lots of compliments on how pretty she is, even if she's not a classic beauty. Children (and often adults) really need to hear it sometimes. You should feel very flattered but it seems to have a pretty sad sentiment underlying it.

It means you've got it made. The real test of a relationship like yours is whether or not the kid likes you. She seems to like you a lot, so she won't cause any problems for you guys. Cheers!

Means she thinks your attractive, and likes u in a friend type way, i would take that as a very strong complement
