NO, you must be 18 years old to purchase a firearm.

To own a ak-47 you would have to be 21 and have a federal automatic weapons permit.

They are expensive.

No. A minor can not even enter into a simple contract, why do you think he can legally buy an AK 47.

Get your parents' permission to join the Army, Marines or state militia/national guard. They will be happy to issue you a rifle and teach you how to use it. They'll even let you use it on people all too happy to try to kill you in Iraq or Afghanistan. When you get out with an honorable discharge, you will be able to buy most types of weapons without too much hassle.

Only through ATF, call your local office, they will be more than happy to help you, and they are pretty fast too. Better still, go in person and tell them you would like to look at and maybe purchase a good used one. They will be happy to talk to you about it.
