I keep cattle too, and osto11 is right, they don't generally drool.

They produce huge amounts of saliva while eating, but as with us it goes down with the food. They might spill a bit when eating very dry food -- their lips don't shut neatly like ours or those of horses, but are stiff, hard and quite immobile.

The only time I've seen them drool is when really angry, such as when a cow is defending her young calf, or when two groups of cattle are threatening each other. In this situation they roar loudly, turn sideways, hold their heads down near the ground, loll their tongues out, roll their eyes and drool. Quite spectacular. If you hear a cow roar, that's the time to get up a tree...

no, i didnt see the show, but they dont drool. they can drool when eating certain types of feeds that are high moisture or possibly high salt content. they more slobber than drool when eating these things.
