Actually, its an incredible movie about the repercussions of intolerance. Hilary Swank plays a girl who wants to be a boy (ie: transexual) but does not understand her "condition" because she is from a small town.
She/he falls in love with a girl (Chloe Sevigny's breakout role) and tragedy ensues.
This is a movie every teenager should see. However, I think it would definitley be a mistake to show it to your 8 year old...too violent, too sexual, the material is just too heavy in general.

Oh it was a good movie, but i don't think your 8 year old needs to see it just yet. It's base on a true story about a young girl who, likes to act as a boy and leads this girl on thinking she is a guy, it doesn't end to well. And a child that age may not fully understand the contends......

I'd definetly wait a while on this movie. Hilary Swank is a crossdresser and there is a lot of heavy sexual violence. For instance at point, she gets raped. I hope this helps.

I have a three year old and I would have a heart attack if she saw that movie at 8. Wait till she's 14, she'll be mature enough then. She'll also be smarter and be able to understand the moral of the story.

Not appropriate for a child, even if it's on TV and edited. Look at the ratings on your TV, that's the best way to see whether or not programs are appropriate for your children.

i flow to think of that this 8 twelve months previous is his son. you do no longer tell them it is incorrect - it is not YOUR newborn. You boost your newborn the way you prefer to, and leave them to elevating theirs as they like to, see you later as they do no longer look to be abusing them. And no, a newborn seeing an R rated action picture does no longer represent abuse. we basically isn't going to work out it interior the theater - we've a 2 twelve months previous daughter - yet we maximum in all possibility WILL purchase it. i replaced into raised viewing R rated video clips at a youthful age (what do you think of maximum of those horror video clips have been interior the eighty's? Alien?), and that i don't experience it has harmed me in any way - i'm nonetheless quite actual looking (till somebody tells me a thank you to boost MY newborn). I in all possibility could have asked (and been allowed) to flow to 3 hundred at that age...and my mum and dad could have long gone WITH me. via the time i replaced into 8 (i replaced into oldest of four young ones), I knew comprehensive properly what occurred to create a toddler (it disgusted me, too *grin*), that folk in video clips do no longer in all possibility die (i replaced into taught to admire weapons and to no longer be so careless), that Freddy Kruger and Dracula weren't actual. My sister wasn't allowed to observe Freddy, however, as a results of fact she could get nightmares. My daughter has considered (even asked to work out) Queen of the Damned, and she or he isn't afflicted via it in any respect. see you later as she's no longer scared and does not get nightmares or a complicated, i'm no longer too worried. She IS, in spite of the undeniable fact that, worried of the shark on the Little Mermaid, and she or he cries while Nana is left in the back of in Peter Pan...flow parent.

NO NO NO! That is a very mature movie, do not let him watch it unless it has some serious editing. Trust me, that was more than I wanted to see...
