My favorite is "Mrs. O'Leary's Cow" by Brian Wilson. Really great song, it almost sounds possessed.

Another good one is "Marwa Blues" by George Harrison. Very peaceful song, great guitar work from Harrison, as always.

I agree with sarah c on "Fire On High", that's a great one. Another one by ELO is "Eldorado Instrumental Medley". It is a bonus track on the Eldorado remaster, but it really sums up the album nicely.

There were some good ones from the pop oldies genre, my favorite being "Sleepwalk" by Santo & Johnny, a #1 hit from 1959. But if we're talking strictly "rock" music here, I have but three suggestions....

First off, "Funeral For A Friend" by Elton John, of course. As you probably know, this song fades into the second half, "Love Lies Bleeding" where the singing begins!

The second one would be "One of These Days" by Pink Floyd, off the "Meddle" album. No, actually, make that "Echoes", instead....although they are BOTH great!

My third instrumental favorite is a BIT more obscure! It is called "We Love You Lil" by the Animals. It is from the album "The Twain Shall Meet - Eric Burdon & the Animals". It was released circa 1968.....VERY psychedelic! It has the song "Sky Pilot" on it (a vietnam-era anti-war anthem), which was a hit at the time, but a forgotten classic now. This album may or may NOT be out on CD, I have no idea. My guess is that it may be VERY hard to find, but well worth it if you do!

Check out the following:

The Instant: Post-hardcore riffs and timing meet heavily affected guitars. From Newcastle, Australia.

This Will Destroy You: Huge riffs and dream-like shoegaze passages. Very uplifting!

1-2 Seppuku: From Sydney. Dreamy trance inducing sections followed by dancable post-punk beats.

Laguna Sunrise by Black Sabbath on Vol. 4 album. I know one on the Led Zeppelin 4th album, if I can remember it is, I think it is called The 4 sticks or When The Levee Breaks.
