I'm so sorry to hear about your friend dying. It is way too soon for you to expect to feel better. Eventually, you will be able to put his death and memories of him into a place in your mind where they don't torture you and you are able to enjoy remembering him. Even so, whenever you do remember him, it will be bittersweet and you will probably be asking yourself, "Why?" for a very long time. It's normal. You will survive this. Stick with your other friends/family who knew him. It really helps.
I had a friend die 4 years ago on the 4th of July, so I know what you're going through.
Best wishes.

Absolutely not, when you lose someone you really love and cared for, it takes a very long time to get over it. I lost someone very close to me almost five years ago and I still have a hard time dealing with it. Some people never get over the loss, but they do go on. It will get better, just how much really depends on you. Maybe if you do a memorial or do something to remember him it might make it easier for you. I made a memorial for the person I lost it helped, but I still will always miss him and I will always think about him. Your friend meant a lot to you. I am so sorry for your loss I know how it feels it suck. Its too soon for the shock to wear off. it took me 4 months to get over the fact he wasn't coming back. Just remember even though he's not here on earth with you, he's in heaven watching over you and will protect you. he's your guardian angel. I know it might sound crazy, but I believe its true because I was in a serious car accident and I shouldn't be here, but that day I truly believed the person I lost saved my life.

Shock doesn't wear off that soon. Grief takes even longer. It's something people go through at his/her own pace so no one can say how long it should take. A week isn't even enough time to realize the loss yet. Don't be so hard on yourself.

Sorry for your loss & no it isn't stupid. A week isn't that long ago....but eventually you will get through it....It just takes time. I'm sure your friend wouldn't want to see you so unhappy though. Try to focus on the good times you shared....that might help you.

One week is a very short time. Give it a year at LEAST. And if you were close to him, waves of sadness will come anytime in your life. Unless you're Mr Spock.

No, it's not stupid. I know if my friend (hopefully will not) died/dies I will be so devestated I wouldn't eat. Loosing a friend is probably very scary and I can't imagine what your going through... I am very sorry for your loss!

It has only been a week. You can't get over a friend dying
in one week. I am sorry for your loss.

My Aunt passed away in January and it still hurts. The hurt eases with time.
