I have tried it and it is very tasty. Although I must say the texture is a strong turn-off. It is probably the main reason why a lot of people aren't willing to try it. I am a big texture person. If something has a bad texture than it doesn't matter how it tastes. If you are the same as me, I would suggest finding a tofu recipe that involves mixing or mashing it up with other ingredients. That way you still get the great taste, but hardly notice the texture.

I love tofu! You can use it as a substitute for chicken in most recipes that call for chunks of chicken, and it tastes clean - chicken tastes dead, because it is! I like deviled tofu, which is a little like egg salad. I like it in stir frys. And so on. I actually have TWO tofu cook books! (But mostly I just toss it in with whatever veggies I have on hand, add a little soy or biryani or other sauce, and it's an easy meal.)

I love tofu but I've eaten mainly in salads and Hot and Sour soup. Good stuff.

hmm.. yes and no.. it really depends.. I love Schezwan (spelling?) tofu.. I had uncooked tofu in a wrap once.. it was layers of Athenos black olive hummus lettuce, onion, tomato, and then a few strips of the uncooked tofu.. pretty good.. although I had to ask them to go REALLY light on the tofu.. Tofu shakes are excellent.. .. It really just depends..

As a vegetarian, I eat tofu all the time- but not by itself! I mix some of it in different dishes. It's jam packed with soy and it makes me feel grrrreat! Good on you! :o)

Cook the devil out of it, because otherwise it slides down your gullet like a snail. Add lots of stuff to it, because as healthy as tofu is, it certainly doesn't appeal to the tastebuds by itself.
And then take it from there!

Yeah, it's alright :-) At first, I hated - HATED - it. Now it's actually pretty good... You need to allow yourself to get used to it by eating it more often. I fry mine and either toss it into a Stirfry or dip it in Soy Sauce.

Tofu is great. It is definitely an acquired taste though.
