what do you have to say about it

I read it shortly after its publication.

I thought it was interesting, but Michael Lewis - as is his habit - made the lead character, in this case Billy Beane, into a bit of a caricature. The book made it sound like Beane struts around the office all day reading an Abstract and ridiculing scouts while he and his Harvard friends all laugh about it. Beane is a little bit arrogant, but not nearly so much as is portrayed in the book. Overeall, though, I thought it was great in explaining the theory behind "moneyball," taking advantage of undervalued attributes in the baseball player market.

I read it. It's an outstanding book.

People like to mock the method developed by the Oakland Athletics, but it has made a huge impact on the game.

People forget the system is not about being a small market team, it's about finding the undervalued player in the market. People like to point out how Moneyball has never won a championship, but they're wrong. Moneyball does not equal the Oakland A's, the Boston Red Sox of 04 took the same approach, and they won the WS.

Moneyball isn't about on base percentage, or a pitchers ability to record an out. Moneyball is about finding the undervalued stat and using it to your advantage.
