I had my c-section 2 weeks ago and am ready to get some color back. ( I haven't seen the sun in 9 months haha) Is it too early to go in the tanning bed?

1. I stay home with my newborn son and 2 year old son all day. So I don't appreciate people making comments saying they're surprised I have time to tan. Taking 20 minutes out of my day once in a while does not make me a bad mother.
2. Thank you everyone for your concerns about me going into a tanning bed. I am fully aware of the risks. You live and learn.

You should probably re-phrase your question, since it's...NEVER safe to tan. :P

Try "When is it safEST to tan after a c-section?"

It is NEVER safe to sit in a CANCER BED!!! Read the statistics! Do you want to live long enough to see your newborn graduate?!? In fact, if you want to be tan, its safer to lay out in your yard. Its the summer soak in the SUN- not the CANCER!!! I know that I sound like I'm preaching, but read an article. Please don't short change the happiness in the life of your child by leaving her life earlier than you should. Its more important to be ALIVE than tan!!!

"Tanned skin is damaged skin and damaged skin increases your risk of developing skin cancer." This is what my son's dermatologist told us when he was diagnosed with melanoma at age 16. He was never a sun-bather and isn't a big out-door person, but he still had major surgery for skin cancer at his young age. Forget the tanning bed and use one of the many excellent sun-less tanning products on the market. Nuetrogena makes a good one that both of my daughters use regularly. You want to be around for years to watch that precious new baby of yours grow up and give you grandchildren. Skin cancer is one of the fastest growing cancers among young people and can be deadly.

I'd wait to be cleared from the OB before something like that. Of course I'm just paranoid. I'm not sure 2 weeks is enough time for the area to fully heal. You could always call your OB's office & ask, they may give you the green light then, but otherwise I'd wait until I was medically cleared by my OB to return to all normal activties, like at your follow up visit in 6 weeks or so.

And thanks for giving me hope that I'll have time to do these things after my baby. lol

Now is fine, but you may want to confirm with your ob gyn. I'm impressed you actually have time with a newborn!!
