depending on what you audition for..you get a slide that your agent sends you before hand.. you familiarize it then perform it at the audition in front of a camera and usualy one or more people. Sometimes you show up to the audition and they give you your slide there..then you have to familiarize it within a few minutes and then perform it. Sometimes you go in and they just ask you to do something while youre in front of the camera..and you just have to think fast and do it! you are expected to be confident, nice, polite, and patient..also happy to be there!

It really depends what you are auditioning for, if it's a scheduled audition, cattle call, etc.
Generally, you show up, perform a monologue, sing a song (if it's a musical), then do a short interview with the panel (tell them about yourself).
Sometimes you are asked to do a cold reading/song.
Sometimes, you will be eliminated before auditioning, just because you aren't the right type.
Now, as for acting like different people, what you'd do is the character in your monologue/song, and then if do you a cold reading, the character you read as, but that's to the greatest extent.
Now, what is expected of you, is
A. You are professional
B. You are prepared
C. You have your monologue memorized
D. You have your song memorized, and can sing with an accompanist.
E. You can show ability and competency in a cold reading.
That's pretty much the generalizations.

You do different things at different kinds of auditions. The first thing you are expected to do at an audition is to know what you are doing. Have you done any acting? Are you any good at it? Why are you asking this question? Do you have a passing interest in acting, or are you dead set on becoming an actor some day? Write to me and answer these questions and ask me more about becoming an actor. I mentor aspiring young actors. kencosp@aol.com

My daughter took acting lessons and has gone to several auditions. What you do during the audtion just depends on what the audition is for, whether it's a commerical or movie etc....one thing is to be yourself....and don't go in there trying to look older than you are. If you're a 13 year old girl...go in looking like a 13 year old girl...not full of make up trying to be 18. Be your age...be yourself....

Wel, it truly depends. Actor's for show's and film's will be prompted to read thier lines and have them memorized and set in stone in thier minds. All that and you must look professional and give an excellent preformance as you will be in front of many people.
