The first thing you need is a resume. A resume is pretty much a list of all the acting, modeling, etc. experience you've had. If you haven't had any acting experience, I would highly recommend theater as a place to start. It not only adds to your resume but it also gives you very valuable acting experience.
Once you are satisfied with the amount of work on your resume, you join an agency. Agencies are like middle-men; when a company wants to shoot a film or commercial, they send out notices to all the agencies in the area, who in turn tell their actors and actresses about it. To join one all you have to do is call and schedule a meeting where they talk to you and decide if they want to represent you.
Hope this helped! Good luck with your acting career!

If you are only OK at acting, you are probably not good enough to compete. There are litereally thousands of very skilled actors vieing for every acting job. The only way to get into film or TV acting is to have an agent. I would suppose that there are talent agents in Vancouver or Seattle. Use the yellow pages and see. But to get represented you will have to audition for the agent. Do you know how to do that? If not, and if you really are serious about acting as a career, write me at kencosp@aol.com, and do not pay an agent to represent you. Legitimate agents do not charge their clients. They make money by getting their clients work and taking a small percentage of the contract.

Hi,

To know what you're really getting yourself into as an actor, to see what you will need to do to get off to a successful start and to avoid the pitfalls that many young actors create for themselves AND to answer this very same question that comes up at least 2-3 times a day, I have created a free 28-page ebooklet that you can download on my site. It's called: What It Takes To Become An Actor. Just go to http://www.actingcareerstartup... , sign in and you can download it for free.

Here's an additional resource: http://www.actingcareerstartup.com/how_to_get_an_agent.html on how to get an agent.

Hope that helps!

Look here:
www.mandy.com - Tv & Film
www.craigslist.org - Everything
www.playbill.com - Theatre

Also look in newspapers, like your local ones, or Backstage or The Stage.

It also helps having an agent who can submit you to auditions.
