it seems to me that if you love Jesus you cannot be for war. Jesus said bless those who curse you. Turn the other cheek, and love thy enemy.

How does all this fit in with invading the middle east. Bush did run on the strength of his love of Jesus, but he doesn't seem to practice what he preaches.

Shouldn't the people of faith be looking to jesus for a Jesus-like answer instead of grabbing the 16's and loading the lads onto the battleships?

Jesus also threw the original Neocons out of the Temple before they formed an evil cabal and decided to have him killed.

Nearly 2000 years later, The Project for a New American Century lives on.

Seems to me like you failed to read the whole Bible...

Then Jesus asked them, "When I sent you without purse, bag or sandals, did you lack anything?" "Nothing," they answered. He said to them, "But now if you have a purse, take it, and also a bag; and if you don't have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one. It is written: `And he was numbered with the transgressors' ; and I tell you that this must be fulfilled in me. Yes, what is written about me is reaching its fulfillment." The disciples said, "See, Lord, here are two swords." "That is enough," he replied. (Luke 22:35-38, NIV)

The bible has been written and rewritten by so many people throughout history...chapters added, chapters deleted...

Translation alone accounts for differences and errors.

Why would anyone think the bible is anything but an interesting take on ancient history?

You are right it doesn't preclude all wars however nowhere in scripture are we told it is okay to topple a government; rather we are told to render to caesar what is caesar's etc.

..Jesus wasnt some hippy pushover, or a Liberal; saying that, he wasnt a conservative either. Jesus talked about war and told his followers "If you do not have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one", thats not exactly peaceful. The Bible is full of God smitting people, and it svery clearly stated multiple times that War is just if you beleive in the cause.
