i know this might sound like a stupid question but, where/how do you get discovered for acting, as a teenager under 18? and do those casting calls where they have the modeling agencies and stuff..is it real and do they really pick some people?

You really have to be careful when trying to break into acting/modeling. There are so many fraudulent people out there that take advantage of anyone they can. If the company is ligit, you will not pay a dime! You may pay to go on your own for classes or lessons. My daughter took acting lessons, we paid for that but that was because we were specifically looking for acting "lessons". She went to a casting director and was picked up with that particular company where the only thing she payed for were headshots. If they want you, they are going to pay for you...you not pay for them!
My daughter went to modeling school and we did pay for that, but any auditions she went on, we paid nothing.
Just research and ask a lot of questions. If it sounds to good to be true, then it probably is.
Good luck!!!

Generally speaking, those casting calls are a gimmick to get you to come in and spend money. I don't know what state you live in...but most people don't get discovered. You have to work at it. If you are not in L.A., I would not do anything where they charge you for photos, modeling or acting classes. If you are being discovered, trust me, they will pay for everything and won't ask you to put in a cent. Even if you're under 18 you can totally get into acting and modeling. Find an acting class for teenagers by googling acting classes in your city. But Los Angeles is really the place to be. If you wan't more detailed info on how to break into showbiz in Hollywood, I'd recommend this e-book that you can buy online at:

It really is a valuable resource!
Hope this helps!

You get noticed by doing as many shows/public appearances as possible,
then invite agencies to come see you perform.

Then, hopefully, one will see you, and like what they saw, and call you in for an audition,

and Ta-Da! - You're "discovered."

Those casting cals with modeling agencies, etc. Are generally scams, don't bother. They almost never pick people.

Good Luck!

Hi,

You can get discovered, but not like you might think. You have to position yourself to get discovered.

To know what you're getting yourself into as an actor, to see what you will need to do to get off to a successful start and to avoid the pitfalls that many young actors create for themselves AND to answer this very same question that comes up at least 2-3 times a day, I have created a free 28-page ebooklet that you can download on my site. It's called: What It Takes To Become An Actor. Just go to http://www.actingcareerstartup... , sign in and you can download it for free.

Here's an additional resource: http://www.actingcareerstartup.com/how_to_get_an_agent.html on how to get an agent.

Hope that helps!

To get discovered as a teen, you would need to be active as an actor and have an agent working to get you auditions. Those calls you mention are usually used to sell people lessons. I would avoid them. So, tell me are you an experienced actor? Where do you live? I ask because I want to know if there is any professional acting there.
