i have a question that envolves everyone on this site
it must be stated as i feel that some people are just
( plain rotten)
i have tried to answer a few peoples questions
& when i scroll down & see what everybody else has written
its so rude i just can't believe how disgusting people can be,
i mean for instance's someone is asking for advice & then people crack em down to make them feel like s@#$ why is that?
someone commented about this man who asked a question and had'nt spell't some of the words right but u kinda knew what he was saying anyway, and someone just had to say it & say to this poor man that he was immature & that he needed to go back to school since he didnt know how to spell
why do people have to be soo immature?
what if he had a learning prob,? why say something if you dont have anything nice to say?
i mean even i know some people can ask weird questions but why answer if you dont like the question? move to the next question i say,
(comment what u think !)

I know exactly what you mean. I mean, people come on here wanting your advice, or your opinion, and then everyone is putting them down. It's quite mean, and I hate it when people do it. Whenever I post my responses on their pages, I usually tell them that it's just mean that some responses are mean.
Once, when someone asked the name of a song, and the only words she knew were 'this kiss, this kiss', I answered the question saying that the song was This Kiss by Faith Hill. When I saw what other people wrote, they were negative, like"duh! of course that's what it is" or "hmm, I bet it's THIS KISS!". It's just mean, especially when it comes to song names, because some names have nothing to do with the song at all.
I wish people were more mature on this site. I am, and I respect others who are as well.
I also agree, that if they don't like the question, or think it's dumb, they should move on to the next question if they don't know a nice answer for them.
Thanks for bringing up this point. It's been bugging me, and I'm glad someone had the nerve to say something!

IN a forum where everyone is essentially anonymous, one difficulty is trying to decide how much weight to give an individual answer. Not all answers are equal. Some people are trying to be helpful, but simply don't have enough information. Some, as you point, are trying to be clever or vicious.
But one way you evaluate an answer is by looking at it - if the person who wrote it can spell and punctuate, that says something not only about their education but also about the care with which they are responding to your question. There have been many instances where bad spelling or poor grammar has changed the meaning of what the questioner might have meant - and more than once, has rendered the question simply unintelligble.
This is a forum that utilizes the written word - and people who can't write are and will continue to be at a disadvantage.

I totally agree with you. I never intended to get on here and smear anyone, but I must admit that sometimes when I'm in a bad mood and make the choice to answer an absurd question, I answer it rudely and then it seems I stay rude. I've thought about it lately and decided today that if I read a question that offends me I will not answer it. This isn't what y/a should be about and certainly not the way it started out for me. Hopefully alot of people will read this and have a change of heart. I really wish the offensive religious questions would end, I think thats what gets my dander up the most. There's all kinds of other questions we all could ask.

First of all, most people are not going to read your whole question, because it is long. Sometimes people give mean answers, but other times people can be really helpful or funny. That's just the way life is, you have to take the good with the bad. You just have to overlook it and go on. I've gotten mean answers, but I just ignore it. With the anonymity of the Internet, it can bring out the worst in people. Also sometimes people have a strange sense of humor. I've been reported for things that I thought was hilarious and all in good fun, but somebody else got offended. Try to just let it all roll off your back.

I think it's just that people like to mess around on this site when they have nothing better to do for the most part. I only give insulting answers for insulting questions. Sometimes I have posted just curious questions and been cut down - and I was like "Whoa, I was just curious?" The questions I have got best answer for were for about something I have experienced and could talk about. Or for something I had knowledge of. If I can get the drift of a person's question and can tell they are asking for an honest answer I don't condemn them and will answer as best I can.

I know what you mean. Usually I spell really fast and abbreviated so I can get it over and done with. Many people are just complete dicks about it and call me illiterate etc. One time, I was rushing to get the extra details of my question written and someone started calling me illiterate etc and telling me to go back to kindy and that there is no place for people like me on yahoo.
Also, I'm only 16. So people always call me stupid anyway. But its funny sometimes when I shame the adults out when we are arguing about something which is good.
It is easier for people to act all hardcore tough behind the keyboard because they are anonymous. They want to feel 'better' and more 'important' than you. By treating you as inferior it gives them a viel of superiority and makes them feel good about themselves. I hope they know that it is just an illusion and in reality their actions reflect badly on them, leading me to the conclusion that they are no better than mondays garbage.
It would be much better if everyone was nice to everyone. I can put up with most insults but the spelling one really gets me. It is really unfair to call someone illiterate on just a few words of text. Good question I must say.

From what I have seen, a good Fifty percent of the askers
are doing tongue in cheek stuff, another thirty are kids who
are bored, You have the weird, the moronic, and the misogynists. So for the one guy you feel bad about. You have
to realize that an honest answer to a question may not have
anything to do with being nice. Honesty is funny that way..
Besides this is a free forum. They are looking for cheap, not
world class.

Because some people on here are extremely bored and find humor in teasing - they also think that because they don't know these people and will probably never meet them that maybe those people don't have feelings.
There's also the fact that yahoo answers offers points per answer, one answer is two points so they just write anything that requires them not thinking that hard.
Hope this helped clear stuff up!

It is easier to make these sort of comments to a screen and not wonder or see someones reaction. You can move on quickly and not worry about a reaction. Yes, it is rude and immature. But, that's the way it is in the cyber world. You can however, find those who are inciteful and take your questions seriously and honestly take the time to answer them. Don't give up, they are out there!

You are right in pointing this. But we are in a world where people of all walks of life interact in forums like this. We have Gods, we have brutes, we have saviors and the murderers all in same platform, to express an opinion and advice as per their learning and experience in life! We must always have to filter the bad out and sip the good in! That's life and we need to do this everywhere, I mean in every forum of free expression!
