Let
n = number of eggs 1 chicken can lay in 1 day
n = (1.5 eggs/1.5 chickens)/(1.5 days)
n = 1/1.5 eggs per chicken per day = 2/3
N = Number of eggs 24 chickens can lay in 24 days
N = 24*24*(2/3) = 384 eggs

That's a weird way to put it...but i believe it's the same way as sayin one chicken lays one egg in one day...so 24 chickens lay 24 eggs per day...so 24 times 24 equals 576 eggs!

what? how do you have half of a chicken laying half of an egg?
that is 1 egg per chicken every 1.5 days so... a chicken can lay 24/1.5 = 16 eggs in 24 days
multiply by 24 gets 16*24=384

let's measure eggs in terms of chinken-days. In the original problem 1.5chickens x 1.5 days = 2.25 chicken days.
In 2.25 chicken days we get 1.5 eggs. Therefore in one chicken day we get 1.5/2.25 eggs = 2/3 eggs.
Every chicken-day = 2/3 eggs
Now given 24 chickens and 24 days we have 24 x 24 =
576 chicken days.
number of eggs = chicken days x 2/3
= 576 * 2/3 = 384 eggs.
