I'd like to suggest using a good trusted site backwards. If you go to tirerack.com and look any specific tire you will find the abbreviation "spec". On any of the specification pages you will see a column: Tread widths in inches. Another column: Suggested rim widths for a given sized tire. RPM'S - (revolutions per mile). Tire section widths, tire diameters, and various profile measurements.
Actually there at least a dozen measurement and pressures quoted. All very interesting.
The tire tests are extremely informative also. You'll be able to easily see whats hot and what's not for your locality and weather.
You'll have a ball on this site!

That will depend on the rim, some are wide and some are thin, go to the tire store and they can fit the right tire to it for you. Good Luck and GOD Bless

215
(tire width is typically measured in millimeters 215 is the standard tire size closest to 8.5 inches).
but 225 would also work.
