Sweet that you're living in Chile, I just said goodbye to a foreign exchange student that my friend had from Chile; he was returning home. He was awesome.

Uruguay dominated? Hardly. they played counter attack but it almost worked. The possession was almost 60-40 US. The US clearly dominated the midfield. Whether Uruguay's defense shut the US strikers down or the sloppy US touch pressing goal, thats what kept Uruguay in the game. Not that they were pushovers to begin with. They knew what they had to do and brought it to the US attack. Uruguay played very well but I wont comment on the crap post match. Of course I expected this to be a tough, down to the wire match in the first place. It usually is for any team come knockout. Not the prettiest of games for either team but a result for US nonetheless

Yes, I did. It was on DirecTV and I supported our boys till the end, I'm still hoarse. Uruguay started getting rough and it showed with the intentional injury of Altidore (hell, even the Argentinan commentators agreed that Uruguay's #3 should've gotten at least a yellow). We got rougher in the second half but the match was so tight and there weren't that many clear chances. Uruguay is better known for being the roughest team but most of the South American teams dive alot. One thing I'll admit, Mexico doesn't dive like the South American countries do and they like to play more. I do think that Wallace was a tad lucky to stay in the game because there was a nasty foul too. No team had a big edge over the other but the US was more effective overall. It could've gone either way but I'm very happy that the USA had the cold head to resist. The commentators even admitted that the US never gave up and this was one of our main traits. If nothing else, I'm glad this was an exciting game for us fans. I'm really hoping Altidore can recover and Adu has the stuff to come alive during the tournament (but he had great games against Poland and Brazil). I have very high hopes for the team and they depend on themselves. GO USA! GO USA! The passion I have for the US outgrows my heart. I just hope we can beat Austria (tough team too but we can beat them) and make history. And since I'm living in Chile, I'm supporting Chile's U-20 team too. Good luck to all the other teams! Thanks!

Dude. We sent our B team to Copa America (which was a weak move in itself) so Landon, Dempsey, and Tim Howard weren't there. Of course Eddie Johnson, Eddie Gaven, and Justin Mapp can't beat the likes of Argentina and Paraguay. Claudio Reyna retired from international competition if you hadn't noticed and Freddy Adu hasn't done anything remotely impressive till this past week. Altidore is the future, at least he plays his heart out every time he's on the field. Adu will still have a lot to prove before he's ever relied upon for the men's team.

Was rooting for the US but I have to say Uruguay were very unlucky! Not only today but yesterday too when their national team lost to Brazil. Uruguay were clearly dominating the whole game from start to finish but US has great defenders. Congrats to Uruguay for an excellent game.

I saw some of it as I was watching mostly the Copa America.
The US played a very solid match. GO USA
I saw a bad dive by Tevez though, that was pretty weak and the referee gave Argentina a penalty kick. Bull. Heinze too, did a bad twist and fall.

South Americans are some of the best divers out there but we already knew that. All I care about now is that we are into the quarterfinals! Bring on Austria!
Go USA!!
Regan, that would've gone in either way. The US forward was right there and the ball had nowhere to go but in the net.

Typical South American reaction to a loss - they can't congratulate the Americans, but instead try to start a fight. Even the announcers here on Canadian television were embarassed for Uruguay's behavior, and noted that they are historically very poor losers.
As a Canadian, I just have to say one thing - Go USA! You have our full support.
Bela - I'm a Canadian who supports America because they're our neighbor and the closest people to us in the world. I lived in the US for a long time, and I can tell you it's a great country.
