October should be a good time to try priceline. I use priceline all the time, and get some great prices on some high end hotels.
Do this.....
Go to priceline.com, and put a bid of 120/night (or less) for a 4 star hotel on the strip (you can select the stars and the approximate location). If you get selected, you get a great hotel for a great price. If you don't get selected, you have to wait a day to re-bid. The next day bid 130 for the same thing. In October (when occupancy is down), you should be able to score a good rate.
My favorite hotels in Vegas are The Venetian, Ceasars Palace, Bellagio.
and....
Don't wait until October to book. Do it in July or August

Bellagio... very nice, and so is the Mirage. I've stayed at both. The other hotels are nice too, so I would go with the one that would offer the best package for that time... and you should get some good rates in October. These are strategically located on the strip, so you can walk , or you can take the strip bus. While there, venture from the Strip and go downtown. They have a wonderful, huge mall with all sorts of shops and restaurants... as well as hotels that may be cheaper than those on the Strip. A cab driver led us to a couple of great restaurants there .

Hmm, you should try a hotel off the strip, if you want to save money. Station Casinos are great...But if the strip is what you're looking for, Treasure Island is a good choice. Paris, Bellagio, and Mandalay Bay are also great, but a little pricey. If you've got 14 y/olds then you might even wanna look into Circus Circus, which has an indoor theme park called the Adventuredome.

Of the four hotels you've mentioned - Mirage and Flamingo are the most under-21 friendly, with Flamingo being more so. TI is no longer as underage friendly as they used to be - they want more of the 25-35 year old crowd, and Bellagio tends to frown on those under 18 in general. (Once upon a time, they didn't want anyone under 18 even staying there, I don't know if that still holds true or not.)

I'd suggest the Flamingo it's usually alot cheaper than the other hotels you mentioned. But being that you're going with teenagers I'd recommend staying at the Luxor, the Excalibur, the MGM Grand, and Circus Circus. All of those hotels have alot more things that appeal to teenagers. They have things like roller coasters, motion simulator rides, Imax theaters, arcades, and plenty of shopping. And there's a monorail that goes between the MGM Grand, Luxor, and the Excalibur.

The best value buffets are not on the strip.
The strip is for tourists that don't have transportation to get off the strip, and are a captive audience for the overpriced meals. Way overpriced IMO.
Locals eat off the strip.
Try the Orleans, Silverton and Main Street Station (Downtown) for great value buffets, AND you can get 2 for 1 coupons for the buffets by oredering a book called
AMERICAN CASINO GUIDE 2007 Edition. (Author Steve Bourie) Available on Amazon, eBay etc. Coupons good until Dec '07, also good for some shows and a few casino bets.
You need to go downtown and get the FREMONT STREET EXPERIENCEfun book coupons for a Main St 2 for 1
It's well worth the cost of the book if you are going to LV for 3 or 4 days or more. LOADS of great coupons in this book.
Silverton Lunch Buffet is $9.95 and 2 for 1 in the book, amazing meal for 2 for $10 !!
Others are $15 max, but 2 for1's are in the book.
You need a car to get off the strip for Silverton or Orleans, but you can take a bus downtown for Main Street Stn.
The book is WELL worth the cost if you are there for a few days with a car. Have Fun !

check out all the prices. If cost is no object, the bellagio is a good one. We like like Treasure Island and Ceasers as it is in the middle of the strip. Circus, Circus is cheaper but on the end of the strip. There is a shuttle you can take up and down the strip, which works well

some friends just came out here to visit and stayed at harrahs. its on the strip and was a great price. they also said their rooms were updated/renovated. you might consider staying wayyyy off the strip, at maybe red rock station casino. it's in a nice part of town and the casino has a bowling alley, movie theater and the hotel is situated near lots of shopping. down the street is red rock canyon where you all can go on a hike... if you're into that.
