I'm not sure you'll ever completely STOP them but you can have your numbers listed on the "Do Not Call" list. Go to www.donotcall.gov and add your phone numbers.
This is copied and pasted from the website:
*The National Do Not Call Registry gives you a choice about whether to receive telemarketing calls at home. Most telemarketers should not call your number once it has been on the registry for 31 days. If they do, you can file a complaint at this Website. You can register your home or mobile phone for free. Your registration will be effective for five years.*

Sign onto the National No Call List. Also, some states have local No Call Lists. The way they work is , you sign up, and your number goes on a list. It is the responsibility of telemarketing companies to remove these numbers from their lists. If they call you, you fill out a form and mail it in and they can get major fines.
I signed onto my state's No Call List and the National No Call List and I went from getting several calls a week to calls twice a year.
Google "No Call List"

There is a number in the front few pages of my phone book that you call, It has helped me alot, but not 100%.
I am so sick of the phone ringing. Its my home, and I hate the intrusion of people calling my number when I didn't ask them to call me!

Top ideas from a comic I saw recently include:
* Pretend to be sexually interested in them and hit on them. Since they called you, they are fair game. It is not illegal to receive obscene calls, only to make them.
* Pretend to be mentally disabled.
* Pretend to be a thief robbing the house.
In addition, I like asking them for their phone number so you can call them at home to discuss the topic. Offer to send them a bill for your time.
Finally, if all else fails, warn them that you are contacting your phone service provider. If you notify them, and document when you did it, and they still call, they can be fined for continuing to call you.

Go to do not call.gov and put in your numbers. Also go to google and type in your phone number. It can bring up your name and correct address. You can have your information removed from there. That is so dangerous.
