It makes as much sense as asking all of the liberals who don't like the way the country is right now to leave.

wow, a lot of you have your facts wrong.
The French gave it as a gift to the ideas America had for complete liberty. It was a gift given by the French intellectuals (not the government) and was campaigned heavily by Joseph Pulitzer.
The only thing America did for France for the French Revolution was give them hope to overthrow their oppressive government.
It was a 100 year anniversary gift (US Independence), though it was never completed until 10 years later, nowhere near WWI and WWII.

As much as people get upset with France, and rightfully so, one should also remember that we quite likely would not have won the revolution without the help of France. Also, the French revolution which came soon after, was partly begun by people who were trying to emulate the liberties that we had won, but which did not and would not for a long time exist in France.
France has been plagued by poor leadership for much of it's history. They have had to deal with despotic monarchs, the reign of terror, when the guillotine held sway, Two Napoleons, both of which led the nation into ruinous wars, and the unfortunate privelege of being invaded twice in this cenury by the Germans. Both of these could have been prevented, had the French had good leaders. Having said all of this, the French people rightfully or wrongfully, depending how you feel, are reluctant to get into scrapes they see no end to. They sound ungrateful, and maybe they are, but there are reasons for it. Also they have several million restive muslims within their borders which could bode serious trouble.
The statue of liberty was given as a gift to the American People from the People of France, nothing said about leaders, and as such, needs to remain right where it is. Maybe it will inspire the French in the future. Who knows?

The French helped us out during the revolution. But did you know that our country has to pay a lease on all of the graves of our fallen solders that died in WWII. France had a very anti American leader at the time during 9/11. The country elected a more pro American leader this time around. So maybe we will become good friends once again.

Apparently you don't know what it means to Respect the Position but not the Person (or in this case the country)!!! We Are able to appreciate the gesture made by the French giving us the gift of our great Statue of Liberty... But we don't have to Respect the country for the crap they dish out today!!!
Liberals don't understand how to separate their emotions from their thought, So you have a tendency of doing and saying things about your own country that is only harmful and Not in any way helpful to the current situations. Liberals need to learn to think before they speak, and use facts instead of fuzzy emotions to get their points or views across. When you see a problem you can't just scream it out and expect their to be a solution... SEE a conservatives thought process is to get all the facts about the issue, figure out a solution and announce the problem and follow up with a reasonable fix. That's all you Liberals need to do... Just learn how to fix your own problems before you open your mouths!!!
Besides, I'd bet my bank account that we've paid our debt to them 10 fold... and spent more money saving their *** then the statue cost 100x....

The righties hate the French because they say one thing and do another. I have friends in many different countries, to include England, and none of them like the French for the same reason. Good example. If you drew a red line on the ground and told no one to step over it, the French would say "We have your back on this, we agree." Then some one steps over the line, we push them back, and the French would take a step back and walk away. And yes, I have worked with the French Gov't before, they are exactly like that. Also, just because we do not like the French for their policies, does not mean we don't like them as a country, dislike their art or will give up the Statue of Liberty. The Liberty Statue is as much a part of America these days as apple pie.

Got an address?
The Statue is just that, an inanimate object that has come to represent something bigger than itself or what it was intended to represent.
Liberty and freedom is something people in America continue to fight, die, and bleed for.
I am glad all the liberals are still here. It reminds me that we are free, and it causes me to be thankful for the greatest country in the world.
My family is from alsace lorraine, so I feel I have some standing here. I don't hate France, or anyone for that matter, I hate that France doesn't stand for anything, that they whimped out on the war on terrorists, and have always been dependent on this country for their ultimate security and then slap us in the face when the rubber meets the road...just like most liberals.
Got that address yet? We can send the libs too.

We should give it back (or at least close it down). Presently as a tourist attraction it just is an energy consumer for not real productive work. Forget about whatever funds are collected, it is a waste of resources, the government problem spends more on it to operate it than what it collects in revenue. Sell it to the highest bidder, maybe some kind of agriculture crop can be grown on the grounds around it, or maybe it could be turned into some kind of condo. complex, or a nightclub, or a lighthouse, or a combination of all three.

I think we should fill it with a nuclear war head and give it back to France (dropped form a B-1 bomber) The liberals have turned the Statue of Liberty in to a free meal ticket for any one of thing that shows up and I, for one and sick and tired of footing the bill
