They left some stuff out and changed random situations for absolutely no reason, but it was still a fantastic movie. I definately suggest seeing it; it's definately worth it. Unlike some 2 hours films that feel like they dredge on and on, this one keeps you interested so that time seems to fly by. Or at least it did for me.

'Some parts - good grief, over half the book was missing!
Let's get this straight, I did really enjoy the film because I always appreciate seeing these actors portray my favourite characters (especially Alan Rickman, Gary Oldman, Jason Isaacs and now Helena Bonham Carter) but I don't think the film was actually that good.
As an adaptation of the book I think it pretty much failed - it just isn't possible to get that much plot into a 2 hour 20min film. The basic points were covered, but they were all glossed over, making the entire film seem rushed even though it was far from short. Dumbledore's Army was probably the most thoroughly covered part, the rest I feel was sadly lacking in any kind of detail. It just seemed like a brief summary rather than an actual story.
As a stand alone film (which it isn't of course) I think it's impossible to view without having read the book, I think it would be extremely hard to follow what on Earth was going on if you didn't already know! I never mind movies making changes to the books they're based on, it's necessary, but I just don't think it worked. SPOILERS Even the fantastic scene in the book where Harry loses it in Dumbledore's office after Sirius's death and smashes the place up was covered by 'I know how you feel' 'No you don't it's my fault' 'No it's not it's my fault'. Plus my favourite chapter in the book, where Harry goes for a long stroll in Snape's memory was cut to about 5 seconds worth of flashes - and Alan Rickman was once again denied the chance to show Snape in one of his fabulous insane rages. Criminal really, because he would be wonderful at it.
That said, there were awesome moments - the battles at the end was great (although this seems to be the part with the most viewer complaints re: being rushed), Helena Bonham Carter was as awesome as she ever is and Jason Isaacs was fabulous as Lucius again, getting a chance to have some decent screen time for once. Gary Oldman - what can I say, it's just a shame he didn't get to do his scenes in the fourth film. I liked the handling of the Weasley twins exit from the school - and whoa, haven't they grown up! ;-) Shame Kreacher and Tonks were only in the film as token characters, with no mention whatsoever of Kreacher's vital contribution to the death of Sirius.
I could go on - and on - and on. I will see this film several more times, but I hope they manage to do a better adaption of the sixth book - to anyone who doesn't know what happens in this book all I'll say is this time they'll have no CHOICE but to let Alan Rickman have a proper amount of screen time!!

It wasn't a great adaptation, but it was still an EXCELLENT movie. Half the book was missing, understandably. The book is 870 pages, and the movie is only 138 minutes.

We really enjoyed it. As others have already said, it is quite different from the book but given that the books are getting progressively longer, of couse the filmakers were never going to fit it all in. We liked it though. It also wasn't as dark as I was expecting it to be. It was nice to see they kept the humour going. I tell you what though, the cinema erupted when Harry and Cho kissed! That place was full of teenage hormones.
