If your car's engine was designed and tuned to run on premium gasoline, its performance will deteriorate on regular fuel, and it could cause damage to the engine.

Not likely much unless you have some sort of high performance car. I remember when I had my first new car - a Firebird - I insisted on using premium and everyone gave me a hard time as it was not necessary. A positive that will happen is that you will save some change at the gas pump.
My mother has a Rav4 - it's definitely not a high performance vehicle and using regular will be just fine with that.

Be detailed about writing down your speedometer #s and check your mileage doing the simple math. If it goes down then you do more math and figure to see if the regular(cheaper) gas is cheaper over say 100 gallons.
MORE importantly! Tune in to your ride and not your stereo. You will detect the difference IF it makes any difference. If your car starts pinging more, particulary on uphills and any accelerations then switch back to the mo betta gas.
Pinging is pre detonation which is bad for your motor. If you dont hear or feel any difference then you are saving bucks.
The more expensive gas does not burn cleaner. If that were true we would have outlawed regular gas instead of adding catalytic converters to EVERY car.

My sister just bought an 05 Lincoln LS and it is recommended by Lincoln that she put premium in the car. She started out doing that but she accidently put regular once and the engine started pinging really bad.. the engine light came on.. she had to take it back to the dealer to have the fuel whatever flushed..

generally, nothing. it depends on what kind of car you are running. it wont run at best, but if driven conservatively, it wont be doing too much, if any harm. for higher performance cars, typically those that are high revving or are boosted in some way, get adversely affected in the higher end when all the power comes in.
if you accidentally filled up with regular instead of prem, when your car specifically asks for premium, dont worry about it. but its not suggested for the long term. it could back fire every now and then. (loud pop while driving)

You asking about fuel, or oil?Nothing should really change. The only difference in gases, is how much cleaner it burns. So worst case, you need to change your fuel filter more frequently. Basically the same when comes to oil, regular friction modifiers are depleted more quickly than in synthetic.
End result, change filters more frequently with the money you save from switching.

nothing really, unless you have a high performance engine. if you dont need it dont spend the money running it. if you ahve a high mileage car and the engine pings, go up a grade of fuel and it should stop.

Not enough information. Year make model and what engine option miles you have also helps.

I can totally understand your reason for this question!!!
Most likely....nothing. You should use a good name brand fuel injection cleaner more often (you do use fuel injection cleaner every so often don't you?) but other than that, nothing damaging will happen to your engine. You may notice a slight decrease in fuel mileage.
