You are taking your chances with replacing the shower head with a wand. As another poster mentioned, those with shower wands sometimes go a bit overboard, and the management firm may have experienced molds, mildews, or other issues from the misuse of these shower wands.
You have been told that you cannot do this. A shower head is considered a permanent fixture, and you're not allowed to change it absent permission. Should the management company discover that you disobeyed their rule, you could be found in violation of your lease agreement and evicted.
Is that shower wand REALLY that important to you ?

i could say this is the landlords, yet rather those issues placed on out rather quickly. I save a pair around for the numerous showers I ought to service, infrequently a month is going with the aid of that i do no longer replace one.

The reason they don't want people to use the wand type shower heads is because some people go crazy with them and end up wetting the walls and/or the ceiling above the shower. This can cause mildew and mold in these areas.

I have replaced it in the last 3 units that I live. I don't know if the landlord even knew or cared. You are correct. You can put the OLD one back on later. It is not like they can enter your unit and check. I say if you want the shower wand, hook it up. Good Luck!

In California I seriously doubt that a shower head is considered a "permanent fixture". Cal. Civ. Code § 660. “A thing is deemed to be affixed to land when it is attached to it by roots . . . or imbedded in it . . . ; or permanently resting upon it as in the case of buildings . . .; or permanently attached to what is thus permanent, as by means of cement, plaster, nails, bolts, or screws . . . . “
Shower heads are made to be installed and removed without damage.

Is the shower-head really so important that you are willing to risk an eviction for putting a new one in? They said NO...and yes they will find out when the water bill comes in.

Absolutely you can. Just make sure you put it back like you had it when you leave.
Apartment management won't know, or even care as long as they are having to do it.

you could get in trouble... but they have to give notice before coming in to your apt. so it would give you time to change it back. dont forget to use plumbing tape when you put on the new one.
