A new National Intelligence Estimate presents a sobering analysis of terrorism threats to the United States, concluding that Al Qaeda has reconstituted its core structure along the Pakistani border and may now be a stronger and more resilient organization today than it appeared a year ago, according to three U.S. intelligence officials familiar with the draft document.

I absolutely support our troops in Iraq, but I am shocked at why we keep ignoring Pakistan, which is clearly the Kindergarten of Terrorism. Chechen Terrorists to Indian Kashmiri Terrorists and every Muslim terrorist on this planet has at one time or other taken training or money from this country we so lovingly call our ally? If you can find read the interview of Johnny Walker Lindh the American Taliban, how he was given training by the Taliban/ISI (Pakistan Intelligence) and was sent to Indian Kashmir to target practice on Indian Army Soldiers and he graduated from there to learn to make bombs in Afghanistan again under the watchful eyes of ISI.

This war has to be fought on all fronts...not just one or two.

Sure, I hate having our troops over there. I have some friends that are currently fighting over there and I hope they get home safely...but we can't just drop one fight and go after the another one...we have to fight both at the same time.

Al Quaeda is a huge threat...they will be an even bigger one if we leave Iraq...cause the country will fall into the hands of terrorists and it will become a terrorist nation. This will make it harder for the free world to defeat terrorism.

Very well thought out question and I think the best answer so far is the one by ritefielder. I totally concur that this war is going to have to be fought on multiple fronts including Pakistan. The appeasement deal that Musharraf made with the militants and terrorists in border region did a lot more to reconstitute al qaeda than the war in Iraq has. We need to keep the heat on them in every place that we can because they are supposedly planning an action that will make 9/11 pale in comparison. I just got done reading two books (Day of Islam and The Final Move Beyond Iraq) and their major points are that these terrorists have already acquired nuclear weapons and are patiently waiting to use them. Our enemy has the resolve to last for years, I just hope our country has the same.

Why is the U.S. wasting time in Iraq indeed. Had it devoted the resources it threw at Iraq to harassing and pursuing Al Qaeda where it is actually present, perhaps this threat would not exist. The U.S. has become less secure as a result of Bush's adventures in Iraq.

I saw that on Chris Matthews Hardball show today. Even if fwe had tried, we couldnt have done anything worse to foster the growth of Al Qaeda than attack Iraq as we did.
