Absolutely, religion plays a part in the candidates personality, and that is one of the factors a person guages the effectiveness of an elected person to lead. Religion and state are separate, but when you elect people to be the state, you have to accept that each person has a different background, and that will play a part in their decision making, that might be religion, it might be something else, but nonetheless you must look all aspect of a candidate including religion.

Since this is supposed to be a Christian nation, I expect the person running for President to be a Christian. However, what religion or how they practice it, doesn't bother me. I just like to know that they say they share the faith upon which this country was founded. Yes, yes, I know religion & politics don't mix, but they do matter to one heck of a lot of voters. Try electing a declared atheist!

I am voting for a presidnet not a god.
I care about their integrity and honesty many times which is derived from their religous faith. As a christian of course I would like for them to share my values and concept of their postion in relationship to God's place - but if they have integity and honor and are not wacko then I will not rule anyone out. Even God has used those who were not belivers in him for great hings. Why should I worry if he can do that. After all Paul said he appoints those who lead anyway.
As much a I am not a gore fan- if he had won ( an no he did not no matter how many imes you counth ballots)i woudl honor him as pres and assume God know s what he is doing!

The Mormons believe we all lived in Heaven with Heavenly Father, several Heavenly Mothers, and 20 Billion Heavenly Siblings before we were born here on Earth. Then there was a war. The good guys won and were born White. The bad guys lost and became demons. Those who were neutral or did not fight bravely were born with non-white skin. The bravest of the brave were born to Mormon families.
We all know that Romney must have been a "Valliant Warrior" in the "War in Heaven" during the "Pre-Existence". How else could he have been born "White and Delightsome" to an LDS family here on Earth? Heck, he was probably one of the Commanding Generals . Now , America needs a President with valuable military experience like that to get us through our war in Iraq. Could you please ask "The One and Only True Prophet", Gordon Hinkley, to please release those valuable records to the public? We need to know what battles he fought in. How many medals he won. How many of the "Less Valliant Soldiers" he recommended being born with black skin when they got their chance to be born on Earth. Was Al Sharpton one of THEM ? How about Jesse Jackson? Mormons, this is your chance to show the world the light of the everlasting gospel. Dont miss out. We have General Romney running for president of the USA and we need you badly right now!

They may not say it out loud, but their are millions of Christians in America who will not vote for a Mormon in the upcoming primaries, and it has nothing to do with his politics.
There would be more than that against a candidate if he/she were Muslim.

we are all God's toddlers inspite of race or colour, from my mum and dad attitude, we would desire to continually under no circumstances mixture politics with faith. we've a duty to vote, as a results of fact our ancestors fought very no longer undemanding for the privilege. it won't count what faith a candidate subscribes they'd desire to purely have the understanding of adjusting the international.

The Religous right of Pat Roberts and his ilk say the founding fathers created this nation-its laws and institutions based solely on the Bible and Christian values..This is pure BS and Pat knows it..The founding fathers looked to Greco-Roman antiquity for ideas and models for building our nation. The founders were all well read in Greco-Roman lit and reading thier persoal papers, juornals, correspondance today one is struck how erudite and passionate they were for antiquity..........................I would never respond to such a question if I was a canindate. True Christians who have actually read the bible know the admonition of particapating in govt of man..Bush and his professed religon are really the invention of Carl Rove. Its scripted for the Religous right and the faithful buy into it making them easy to manipulte by republicans leaders

I don't care about his religion.
What bothers me about Romney is how smarmy he is. He reminds me of a used car salesman.
You should vote democrat anyway before the Republicans destroy us all.
