I'm not Jewish, but I was reading a Jewish magazine and in the classified section in the back was a rental add for a vaction rental, but it said they would only rent to Kosher clientel.

An interesting question. Clearly the owners have a right not to incur additional expenses in connection with having their kitchen appliances 'contaminated'. In this case, a lengthy and expensive procedure is required to 'rekosher' appliances and dishes. Some vessels cannot be made kosher (like ceramics) and would have to be thrown out.

So.... if the terms of the rental are that the tenant must guarantee to preserve the kosher condition of the rental and return it in exactly the same condition, or pay to have it ' rekoshered', that would not constitue religious discrimination....since in principle, anyone could do it.

If the whole thing is just a facade for discriminating against gentiles, then it clearly is illegal.
