3 1/9 = (9*3+1)/9 = 28/9
2 1/4 = (2*4+1)/4 = 9/4

So answer is (28*9)/(9*4) = 28/4 = 7

3 1/9 × 2 1/4
First convert to improper fractions:
3 1/9 = (3×9 + 1) / 9 = 28/9
2 1/4 = (2×4 + 1) / 4 = 9/4
So we have
28 / 9 × 9 / 4
We can cancel out the 9s, and also a common factor of 4 between the 4 and the 28 to get
7 / 1 × 1 / 1
= 7.

3 1/9 = (3*9 + 1)/9 = 28/9

2 1/4 = (2*4 + 1)/4 = 9/4

28/9 * 9/4 = 7

Before you can multiply these mixed numbers you will want to change them into top heavy fractions.
3 and 1/9 is 28/9.
2 and 1/4 is 9/4.
So you now have (28/9) times (9/4).
To complete you multiply the numerator times the numerator and then the denominator times the denominator. You can reduce and your answer will be 7.

With mixed fractions (integer with proper fraction), it's easiest (for me) to convert them into improper fractions (where numerator is larger than denominator).

3 1/9 = 28/9
2 1/4 = 9/4

Now, multiply (28/9) and (9/4)
(252/36)
reducing gives
7/1
or simply
7.
