I have installed a kitchen stove wall mounted 600 cfm fan and connected 6 " flexible duct to existing damper located on outside wall. Tested the fan before installing, the fan blows air pretty good, however when I connected the duct to the fan and turned the fan on, the moving air makes a noise and blows inside!
The duct lenghts is less than 30" and has one 90 degree transition to the outside wall.
Where the problem can be?

Massive Mann, if I change leads, will the fan rotate in oposite direction?
Does changing leads matter in AC circuit?

There is a damper in the system that prevents air blowing into the house from outside, sounds like it is stuck closed.

Look at the place where the fan exits the house through a grill. There is usually a spring activated damper there. The spring hold it closed until the force of the blower's are forces it open. If it is jammed shut then it will block the air path and the air will show up in the kitchen again.

No, on AC changing the leads will not reverse the motor. The problem sounds like something with the duct. Or is there something you need to install to block the grate inside that would be used for ductless operation?

If the fan blows correctly with the duct off, you know that the problem is with the duct. If it is installed backwards the air cannot pass through the check valve.
