I had my car in the shop. When I Took it in it was at 500 RPM's at idle. Now it is at 1000, and it is drinking gas like it has a straw. I need to know if I need to take it back to the shop. Thanks

I took it in because a fan on the AC was not working.
They replaced the fan and something else. Nothing to do with the engine.

Did they have the battery out? What did they do? Idle and fuel has to relearn sometimes. How long has it been?

The idle should be around 650 rpms. Take it back and tell them to fix the idle. They might check the throttle plate and make sure it is clean. The idle is set by the engine control module (computer), the idle control motor may have a problem. Is the "Check Engine Light" on?

A V6 will Idle lower than a V8 , If you are not having problems other that drinking lots of gas Have the idle control checked , It also might be running to lean have the computer checked, hope this helps.

honestly every car should idle somewhere between 5 and 7 hundred rpm
what could have happened is the new fan pully is different causing higher rpm. but honestly its so simple to fix and to answer your question

yes take it back they can adjust the idle with a screwdriver

750 rpm is ok 500 was probably ok--- check the book .. You told them it was too slow and now at 1000 it is too fast. Have them set it according to Hoyle and forget it...

YOU SHOULD GET THE VEHICLES COMPUTER SCANNED AND CHECK FOR ANY PROBLEMS AS WELL AS CODES AND THEN YOU WILL HAVE A GOOD IDEA ON WHAT THE PROBLEM TRULY IS.

TRY FINDING AN INDEPENDENT SHOP INSTEAD OF THE DEALER OR A CHAIN STORE BECAUSE YOU WILL BE OVERALL MORE PLEASED WITH THE FINDINGS AND THE SERVICE.
