12 inch=12*25.4 mm=304.8 mm
8.5 inch=8.5*25.4 mm=215.9 mm
Therefore area of the paper
=304.8*215.9
=65806.32 mm^2

12 x 8.5 = 102 in²
1 in² = (25.4)² mm² = 645.16 mm²
102 in² x (645.16 mm²/in²) = 65806.32 mm²
BTW, the unit is properly stated "square millimeters", not "millimeters square"; the latter is would be used for describing something that is perfectly square.
E.g., an square area of land that is 10 miles on each side has an area of 100 square miles, but can be described as being 10 miles square, describing its dimensions.
