Going through a divorce, the cars are in his name the one I was driving, I couldnt afford so I went and got a new one in my name that was a lot cheaper, without trading the one in his name in, because it is in his name. Am I in trouble?

Just because they're in his name doesn't mean that they aren't marital property. Talk to a lawyer.

Why would you be in trouble for buying a car? All you did was go out and buy a car. You didn't do anything to the marital assets. You should talk to a lawyer asap because you probably have rights to the cars even if they're not in your name.

You should have waited because cars are considered marital assets and you would probably have gotten one in the settlement (he would have probably had to maintain payments since his name was on it though), or you could split the payments. If you purchased your car before the divorce then that can also be considered a marital asset and HE can sue you for it, doesn't matter WHO signed for it. Never ever ever ever make a major purchase during a divorce, they have a tendancy to backfire on you. (this goes for men as well as women)

Getting a divorce doesn't change the debts you owe to companies, they don't care that your marriage ends, they have a contract for what ever you signed for. The divorce should spell out who owes for what.
I don't see where you did anything illegal, but if those 2 cars in his name are not paid off and one was yours then the judge may see you as responsible for the payment. If you are missing a payment try to talk to the ex to work out what he wants to do.

if you can prove you were separated from your husband when you bought the car you should be fine.if you traded or sold anything that had his name without his prior approval you might have a problem.most states are community property states still your judge who will rule in this divorce will make a fair division of all property and debts.good luck.i do not think you are in trouble.

If you make more than she does and she took a serious pay cut when you seperated then ya she can get allimony and the car she can only get if you bought before you filed for divorse!!!! I'd get one hell of an attoney though or you will get screwed!!!!

don't worry about it. The judge will put it to him and you will be OK! Take him for what he has. It's what you deserve for putting up with a man!
