I do a lot of kayakin, even when it's raining.
Is it taking a lot of risk?

I think the risk is bigger in the sea because there aren't a lot of things taller than U that can attract the lighting , but in the sea U are always at sea level , in the land U are always above it , and that's not good.
kayaking in the sea , even when it's raining ? that's kinda of extreme , getting stroke by a lightning is not the first thing you should fear. So no , you are not taking the risk of being struck by a lightning
oh , all the persons that I saw in TV that were stroke by a lightning were on the land

actually, the risk only increases for you to be affected by lightning on water because the water conducts electricity a lot better than land. the fact that lightning only strikes tall objects is only somewhat true... lightning can sometimes take very erratic paths.

Chances are less.The lightning effect will be weakened by a wide area of sea surface.
