I didnt realize the pain of it, probally because my contractions were so intense, that anything less wouldnt hurt. It really is not bad, and when you are dealing with contractions and stuff, you probally wont notice the pain.

Good luck and congrats!

They give you a small shot in the area to numb it before they insert the epidural. The epidural does not hurt, but is uncomfortable when they are putting it in... they need you to bend over as far as possible and with a pregnant belly, this can be akward and uncomfortable. Once the epidural is in, there is not any pain from that and the pain of the contractions will be more bearable. After the epidural is removed, you may experience back pain in the area for a while (I had a minor back ache for 2 weeks and it is gone now) My baby was born on June 26.

ensure you have not have been given a pre-med pupil doing it. i became into so out of it, i did not understand I had an unexperienced guy or woman giving me my epidural. My husband finally (after 4 attemps) threw her out and demaded some experienced. They have been given it the 1st time. With my son, the epidural went in sideways, and my left leg became into numb for HOURS after delivery. ok afterwards however. Then, with my daughter, they did not turn the drip on, and all of it set to work 2 hours AFTER delivery. basically ensure you already know what you're turning out to be your self into, and how plenty epidural they are utilising. whether that's a non-supply up, or a non everlasting.... basically observe. yet, in the event that they do it appropriate, you experience a pinch on your back, yet all in all, it is greater perfect than the contractions!

no, I waited when I started having strong contractions, and the contractions hurt me more than the epidural shot. You should get an epidural, its worth it. I wasnt going to get one but I wasnt tough enough like I thought it was.

Nope. It hurts alot less than the labor pains. Once it kicks in, you think you've died and gone to heaven. lol Of course, I didn't get mine until I was already 10 cm dilated and ready to push when I pleaded with my Dr. to give me one. I don't think they called it an epidural, I think it was like a spinal block or something of that nature. Anyhow, it makes you completely numb from the abdomen down. Soooo wonderful! lol They could chop your leg off and you wouldn't even notice, and haha, believe me that's a GOOD thing. Once it wears off you feel sore of course but they'll give you pain meds to help with that. Hope I helped.

It didn't hurt at all. Compared to the contractions, it was a piece of cake. Good luck!

It felt like a sting, but they'll give you local anesthesia to numb the area first. It's not that bad at all, but I did have some back ache for a month or two

Not really if the anesthesiologist is good you will only feel a pinch. Good Luck!

it's not really a shot. it is a line that is inserted into your spine and it stays there as a drip. they give you some novacain(sp?) and it doesn't really hurt
