Wrong. How about "Thanks mom for supporting us if you can get money from dad - please use it for that trip to **** that you could never afford because you were paying for all of us kids"
Sounds better than "Give me the money because I'm as selfish as Dad is".

First, let me ask you something. How do you think your mom raised you, without the child support, before you were of age?
Raising children is very expensive and the money has to come from somewhere. Child support is suppose to help the custodial parent raise the children while they are still under ages. However, if the support was not paid before the children reach legal age, then the custodial parents still gets the money. The money is now a reimbursement for the expenses the parent has already paid out (in one way or another).
Look at this way. Suppose you loan your best friend the money to buy an outfit. She wears that outfit for 2 months and decides to sale it in a yard sale. She hasn't paid you yet. Does she still owe you the money?

Since your mom has filed the lawsuit, any and all money collected will go to her for services rendered. There is no reason for the money to go to the kids as you guys didnt pay for past child rearing costs incurred by your mom. If you feel that youre being cheated here you can always file a lawsuit against your mom for whatever reason but one warning;God help you if you did that!

I would think the past arrearages goes to your mother. Your father didn't meet his financial obligation which put more financial stress on your mom. However if you were in college and unemployed until age 21 you can still collect child support from your father, as long as you're in school.

It was NEVER supposed to come to you..it was always to help your mom support you and raise you. NOW , it is her turn to get repaid for all the money she put into you...Your father should have been helping out all along. Be thankful you have the mother you have...one that could support you without your jerk father contributing what he promised he would. You have NO claim to the money, you never did. I have no idea where you are coming from, but if I were you, I would pray my mother got some of the money she invested in you back. A lesser woman would have turned you over to the state for lack of ability to support you. count our blessings and back away from this one. Boy, you sure know how to distort things. Grow up, lady.

The money your mother used to support you for all those years will be paid back to her by your father, if she wins the case. Whose money took care of you all those years? Your mother's. She did it without the help of your father. He owes her the money, not you. It is your mother's money. Stop being selfish. You are entitled to none of it. Don't allow money to be more important to you than having a relationship with your parents. Get educated, get a job, and earn your own money. If I was your mother, I would want to share it with you. But, if you had an attitude of "entitlement" regarding it, you would receive NOTHING.

That depends on who supported you while your father wasn't. If your mother took care of all the bills, fed and clothed you, provided a roof over you head, the heating and air conditioing of your home, water to bathe in, a car to get back and forth to the doctors/school etc. Paid the medical/hospital bills then the money goes to her because she is the one who provided those things for you, as children you wouldn't have been able to provide them for yourself. If your mother had to go on welfare to help support your then your father would be paying back the government for what it spent on you and your siblings.

That's pretty selfish of you. The money is intended to go toward the expenses of raising a child, ie school expenses, dance lessons, car & insurance, etc. Your mom spent HER money on these things for you, and your dad was supposed to be paying a portion as well. The money is to reimburse your mom. It is not for you.

I'd imagine it goes to your mom, as if it normally would have during your regular payment would have, she spends the money on you guys, but since she has already supported you with her own money , then the reimbursement goes to her and she probably won't be sharing it with you...I think this is her call.

nope, back child support is always paid to the parent supporting the child. it was money that should have been paid to her while you were a minor but money your dad refused to pay to support you.
if you want that money, you have to sue your dad in your own case. btw, you won't win.
