This guy hasn't even seen the NBA Hardwood yet and they are already assuming he's going to get an NBA title real soon. This guy has NOT proved himself to me yet, and anyway, He's not taking out Tim Duncan and my San Antonio Spurs. LO L He could be a Kwame Brown for all we know, or a Keith Van Horn. L O L Very High Pick gone Bust! The Celtics will be shooting a lot of 3's this NBA season with Ray Allen AND Paul Pierce, they both average at least 175 3's MADE each year. I'm going to love to see the Celtics play it's going to be a 3 point contest within every game. LO L

i haven't heard anything like that. but there is no way greg oden is good enough right now to be able to carry his team to a championship. they might make it to they playoffs this year , and thats probably as far as you will see them go. all the new players need to mesh in with each other and develop chemistry before they can even think about going to the finals let alone winning a championship.

I'm sure they're not talking about the upcoming season, but they're looking real good for the future. Oden, Aldridge, and Roy is a pretty good young nucleus. And they reason they bring up a Championship is because it's viewed that all great big men win multiple championships: duncan, Russel, Abdul-Jabbar, Shaq. He's definitely got a chance to be great, especially in an era where there are very few good true centers. At worst he should be an All-Star caliber player, he's already a great defender, and he's got the skills to be a great offensive player as well. So there's just no way he's Kwame, because Kwame was number 1 of one of the worst classes ever and he definitely did not get this kind of hype, nor did he play and college ball.

Well, I don't think anyone is claiming they are going to win it all next season.

But, the reason most folks are saying the Blazers will eventually win one with Oden is because you still build franchises around a stud in the middle and Oden is the highest rated post player to come into the league since Duncan came out of college.

Just look at recent NBA history. Eight of the last nine champions had either Shaq or Duncan on their team and the year that neither guy won Shaq was on the losing team. So, either Shaq or Duncan has been on a team that played in the finals the last 9 years. That is why everyone is saying the Blazers will get back to the finals in the near future. You need that stud big man to help get you there.

People who REALLY know basketball share the same opinion. Its only a matter of time before Oden brings a championship to Portland. Maybe not in the next 2 or 3 years. But eventually he'll do.

Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge TD & Spurs fan & we're not going anywhere for the next few years. But once Timmy retires. Oden will be there to take over his throne. Forget about Lebron, Greg is the next NBA King.

Think of it like this.
When you play basketball and the other team has one guy taller and more dominant than your team, you struggle. You can't drive in for easy layups, yet when you defend him he easily scores simply by turning and shooting.
It's the same thing in the NBA, powerful big men wear the other team down. Eventually teams with dominant big men win because of this. That's why Tim Duncan and Shaquille Oneal have won so many titles.
Greg Oden has a mindset for the same thing. He's tall, strong and an excellent shot blocker. His offensive game will come in time but as of now he will alter hundreds of shots. A dominant big man like this can be easily distinguished from players such Kwame Brown because they can take over a game and Kwame can't.

i think of they make the playoffs this 3 hundred and sixty 5 days, undergo in strategies an effect participant like Oden gets you to the play offs, SPURs have made the playoffs ever through fact Duncan have been given there. additionally i think of through fact Oden is a protecting participant flow between Hakeem and Ewing, he will win 2 titles. If he had greater offense like SHAQ i might say 4, yet he does not , he's greater an protecting participant. So 2 for effective, 3 perhaps.

Because they are stupid as hell, don't get me wrong, Greg Oden is a hell of a player and he will help this team out, but regardless he isn't a big enough factor to take a team that bad to the finals, he will be a star in the future.

I totally agree with you man. This guy may be a bust or a role player heck for all we know he may be a superstar but he has to prove himself first before we can make any assumptions.

In my opinion he will be a good center but not a great one. He may win a championship but not without the help of another superstar on his team.

hope this helps

coz oden has the skill and the body to succeed. he's still mechanical on the post and not that aggressive on the boards, but man, can he can block shots or what. but like everyone's saying, he can improve because of his potential and work ethic. i'm predicting a 12/8/2 for him this season basing on what he's shown in the summer league games so far.
