Did they release a slighltly different version on opening day? I saw it when it opened and the scene with Nicky Santoro being beaten to death is at least 10 minuits of just beating. I just saw the DVD and it was drastically shorter. Are there different versions or am I insane? I could swear they re-edited that scene.

Well you may be insane. I cant help you there! But no, I dont think it was changed. Usually they change stuff like that when a movie goes to broadcast and they need to fit it into a timeframe for commercials. Ten minutes is a pretty long time for a scene like that. You probably just reacted to it differently the first time you saw it.

I don't think you're crazy. I've felt this happen to me over many films over the years! But with DVDs these days, I don't see why they can't just put the theatrical release and whatever other version they want. I guess they consider it a useless expense not suited to the majority of viewers...
