In support of the people of Iraq, we the undersigned Nobel Peace Prize Laureates, state our opposition to the Iraq Oil Law.

We also oppose the decision of the United States government to require that the Iraq government pass the Oil Law as a condition of continued reconstruction aid in legislation passed on May 24, 2007...

***

The U.S. government should leave the matter of how Iraq will address the future of its oil system to the Iraqi people to be dealt with at a time when they are free from occupation and more able to engage in truly democratic decision-making.

It is immoral and illegal to use war and invasion as mechanisms for robbing a people of their vital natural resources.

This war has always been about oil!

The Iraqi's have the liberty to live in poverty while we democratically rob them of their say about their largest source of income!

Just like America and big business!

They didn't ask to be freed, much less watch Exxon and another oil company pull 4 Million barrels a month from Iraq, while they have no drinking water or electricity!

And where is the money going, it isn't going towards paying for the war! You know where it is going, into a few pockets ands one is Bush!

Seen lower oil prices? I didn't think so!

And I believe what Bush said at the time it would be used to rebuild Iraq! Well, when are we going to stop tearing it down and start building it up?

Even that commission study that everyone is touting now gives no date for a US pull out EVER! I suppose to protect our oil interest!

Because they are leftists who would say the same thing regardless of what we did. We should have been taking some oil from the begining to offset the cost of freeing them. At the same time we should always be careful not to take advantage of a vulnerable nation like France, Germany and Russia did- you remember that whole food for oil thing that went haywire.

Just because somebody has a Nobel prize doesn't give them authority nor does it mean that they know what they are talking about on this matter. And don't forget that Arafat also had a Nobel prize.

Because they have some hope ( false?) that if they say something , it might actually affect the outcome.

scarlett, Chalabi is now in charge of the oil . Do you have any doubt that some slippery business is happening?

Because unlike Dubya they're smart, and they did not get these awards by buying someone out, unlike Dubya's dad, furthermore the Iraqi people never asked Dubya to interfere in their lives.
