Aviophage, does your Ph.D entitle you to make broad stereotypical judgement statements like the one where you state..."Political conservatives are not very bright, and enjoy jumping to conclusions; as a result, they don't handle factual and scientific information very well"? That sounds like you have your blinders on.

Earths temperature has been going up ever since the industrial revolution. The increase coincides with the increase of atmospheric carbon dioxide. Certainly the other planets are exposed to the sun too and the ones with atmospheres have the same effect. They have their own "greenhouses". And the sun does fluctuate in its luminosity periodically. But it has done so for as long as humans have been able to measure it scientifically. There is a clear relation between the period known as "the little ice age" and the sun being completely without sunspots for the same period. But those fluctuation alone cannot explain earths heat stroke while it can explain what we are seeing on other planets. The sun always reverts back to its usual intensity while earth has been getting constantly warmer. A very good reason to study the other planets further then.
And we better hope that it is humanity that is responsible for the ongoing climate change. If we are doing it then we can undo it. If it is some completely different and non terrestrial mechanism then we are screwed. Because how can we make the sun cool down a bit? Ask nicely?

Well, that is a spurious use of statistics. It's like saying that because a man called Ralph stole your brothers car, and now your car has been stolen, it must have been stolen by someone called Ralph...

Each planet has a differing atmosphere, different conditions, different distance from the sun etc.

I haven't heard of global warming on these planets but even if there was there is not enough data to give an accurate report based on such a tiny proportion of time as the last hundred years. Even on earth with 8 out of the last 10 years being the warmest globally on record people are still not sure that it is statistically valid data.

Earth has been warmer and cooler then it is now but current data seems to point to a general heating at the moment and that the rate of change is unprecedented in the History of the earth. The only thing that is significantly different at the moment to anything in the past is human influence so the obvious explanation/conclusion is therefore drawn.

I am not sure that website you are on is a definitive guide for astronomical research, try New Scientist or something a little more reliable.

It has been noted that Mars is warming. No, you do not need to be concerned about the temperature on Mars. Yes, it is a good reason to question AGW theory, but by no means a disproof. Martian warming suggests that Global Warming may be driven by variations in Solar intensity. OR Mars could just be going through it's own natural cycle. Global Warming, Cooling and Stability all occur on Earth. The temperature has been stable for the last 10 years. It rose 30 years before that, It fell 25 years before that. Humans have changed our atmosphere's CO2 from ~0.03% to about 0.04%. AGW believers think this has raised the Global temperature ~1 degree over the last 100 years. Personally I think AGW is mostly junk science, because the notion that Man is causing dangerous Global Warming is accepted as an article of FAITH. Virtually none of the research questions this, all efforts go simply to proving it.

Many things can cause global warming.
The best example in our solar system is what happened to Venus and Mars, which have no large iron core and a magnetic field to fend off solar radiation which blows away any atmosphere thus exposing the planet to all the heat from the sun.

Your website in the question is interesting.
But these are mostly theories with much evidence lacking.

1st off...there is no evidence about global warming.
Every bit of the socalled stuff is based on inaccurate & incorrect computer models...

The true experts on global climatology state there is no global warming and that we are in a hot cycle that will end in 10-30 years.

Global warming on other planets is not relevant to the global warming issues here.

GLobal warming here is almost totally a political issue because most of the real science disputes global warming.

There is no evidence of a phenomenon parallel to what we call Global Warming on any other planet. Your friends are not very bright.

No one is claiming that "Global Warming is caused by man." Political conservatives are not very bright, and enjoy jumping to conclusions; as a result, they don't handle factual and scientific information very well.

The claim is that human activity contributes greatly to global climate change, and that anything we can do to ameliorate the affects of human environmental abuse will help reduce the destructive effects.

But it is incredibly stupid to try to bring in incorrect claims about the atmospheres of other planets to support an already pretty damn stupid conservative political view.

But of course the choice is yours as to who you want to hang out with. The rest of us will just struggle along the best we can.

Didn't know Pluto or Mars or Jupiter had Global Warming.

there are three choices, warming, cooling or staying the same. By sheer weight of probability, given there are nine planets (well OK 8.5) three of them would be warming up, three would be cooling down and three would be staying the same.

So it isn't statistically significant. Go back to sleep.

There is no proof of global warming in those planets,

Global warming occurs naturally, however, with all the pollution man causes, the rate and effects are dramatically increased.
