If you put enough on it, it will.

The desktop is part of your user's profile which Windows loads every time you log in.
Windows also accesses your profile folder when you lauch other programs.

I had a user that had 3 GB of files on her desktop and it sure did slow down the computer.

Best practice is to save larger files somewhere else. You can always create a shortcut to a folder or files on the desktop.

No. I save files on the desktop all the time - but only temporarily. If you continue to do this you will find your desktop so cluttered you won't be able to find anything.

I have created folders in My Documents for Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Access - and have subfolders within them. It makes life a lot easier when you have your files organized.

CCleaner is basically a dedicated cleaner which cleans the unwanted files in your computer...for eg. when you download or open any file or site, at many places it is registered in your computer that is not needed by the computer to work.....its a wonderful software that frees unwanted space...
Norton is basically a dedicated anti-virus.....
I sugess to still install CCleaner

You can find a free download of ccleaner here http://bit.ly/1sJimp9

No.

But you'll probably never backup anything you save on your desktop. (Assuming you backup at all.)
